Umbrella Stroller – Interesting Handles
The umbrella stroller got its moniker from its umbrella shaped handles. There are two handles instead of the traditional push bar on an umbrella stroller. The two handles are shaped exactly as the handle on the end of an umbrella is. The handles are shaped like the end of an umbrella on the umbrella stroller for ease of transport, the umbrella shaped handles on the umbrella stroller can be grasped after the stroller is folded and placed on the fore arm to be carried, it also can be held in the hand to be carried.
Benefits of the Umbrella Stroller
Clearly the best benefit of the umbrella stroller is the portability. The umbrella stroller folds almost flat length wise into a nice compact shape, just a little wider than an actual umbrella. These lightweight wonders can easily be folded up with a kick of the foot, to board public transportation or to fit neatly in any size car. An umbrella stroller is perfect for an older baby (one that can sit up by themselves) or a toddler. There is also a cost benefit an umbrella stroller can usually be bought for around thirty to forty dollars. There are some higher end models that will cost a bit more but these higher end models really are just conventional strollers with umbrella handles. An umbrella stroller is also pretty easy to navigate because of the dual handles.
Pit Falls of the Umbrella Strollers
An umbrella stroller is usually lightweight which is great for portability purposes but not so great for stability. A child can never be left unattended in an umbrella stroller because they tend to tip if the child shifts their weight forward, usually this is not a problem with the heavier models, but a heavier model sacrifices the purpose of the portability associated with the umbrella stroller.
An infant cannot use an umbrella stroller, nor can a baby that cannot sit up confidentially on their own.
An umbrella stroller is not that durable and really is not a good option on tough terrain; strictly sidewalk use is the best option for an umbrella stroller.
An umbrella stroller very rarely comes with any storage capacity at all, there are no baskets or any place to stow baby’s gear. If the gear is slid over the handles that is an invite for trouble, because the weight can cause the umbrella stroller to tip backwards, spilling baby backwards as well.
Purchasing an Umbrella Stroller
An umbrella stroller can be purchased from any vendor that sells strollers or baby items. The cost is very affordable and really does not vary from vendor to vendor too much.
